A convenience store about .3 miles from our house was robbed Monday night.
Apparently, two guys with guns came in around closing (9:00 pm), forced the clerk to the ground and got off with around $200.
A small store in the middle of small-town rural America gets knocked off. Who would've thunk it?
The store doesn't do much business at ALL. There's hardly any outside lights, no gas pumps, and the store itself is barely lit inside; I've ran into stuff in there before.
That's why I'm not surprised they only got about $200. Wow... that's no where near worthy of armed robbery.
This was the second time this store has been robbed (that I know of). A couple years ago, some guys took the air conditioner out of the wall from OUTSIDE, and got in through the hole in the side of the building.
This place seems like a criminal magnet. They should just put a sign in front that says, "Rob me! I'm ill-lit and in the middle of no where!"
And for the finale, the clerk held up at gunpoint was the mother of one of my classmates. I wouldn't really call him my "friend" since we don't really talk or see each other much. But there was a lot of gossip at school today. Basically everything that I've just said.
There's also a rumor going around that the same guys scoped out stores before they hit this one... you know, to see which one is most vulnerable and easiest to get away from. Some clerks from other stores say they've got the guys on camera (which this store didn't have, not surprisingly).
meh, I watched the corner store across the road from my house get smashed open and have the little fuckers (that live in the apartment building right next to it) steal packs of smokes and I think it was like, $100 and then try to run off in every direction, but just end up crossing the road

more often than not, small indy stores will have far more value in smokes than actual cash on-site.
